Help X10 2.1 Update - Issues/Problems

Hi all. I have just updated to 2.1, but on importing and syncing my contacts, If I go into a contact in my phone book, there are like, 20 versions of the same person, I can't delete them? Anyone else have this prob? How do you fix it?

Also, the phone seems to be quite slow. Sometimes if I click on a photo for example, it might take 7 seconds of black screen before the photo comes up?

In your phonebook tap on the three head icon, top left. Scroll down and see what you have selected, I had imported my contacts from SD card and synced with google so ended up with double.

I got rid of all my contacts from the phone... first turn off all syncing for contacts then do Menu>Settings>Applications>Manage Applications then press Menu>Filter>All. Once the list is populated go through and find your Contact Storage and delete data. This will wipe all numbers from your phonebook. You can then decide whether you just want to restore them and use Phone Contacts or to go the Google or SE Sync way. You should only then have one number per person rather than duplicates.
 
Hi all. Vodafone have finally fixed there problem with the update to 2.1 (well i think they have). Problem is now when i go to market and i want to check my downloaded apps it come up with that a network error has occured, retry or cancel. click retry and it just pops back up again, click cancel and it returns me to the front screen of the market. Can anybody shed any light on this problem. This has only happened since i repaired the update from vodafone
 
All of a sudden my android market updated. But it works a lot slower and force closes every now and then. Also some app pages it says it cannot connect to the server. Any help on what is goin on, cheers.
 
Any ideas on how to update android market to the new version. i had it last night but since i done the repair update i carnt get any longer

How can i get all my contacts from my gmail account onto my fone and vice versa?
Just looked at my google account and there is 5 contacts go through my phonebook on fone and there is more like 105??? How can this be
What is this social phonebook that vodafone have released to link facebook to you phonebook as i have noticed that 1.6 you could link contacts to there facebook account but you avent got that option on 2.1??

any help is much appreciated
 
Have a look on your three headed icon on your contact page, and then see what you have ticked under the google thing - there are lots of options maybe you need to tick and test each of them to see which one brings them all over.

After that I don't have any file manager(e.g. Astro File Manager) installed by default on my x10.what should I do about it?

Also I wanted to install some .apk files which I already downloaded as I used to install on my phone when it was on 1.6.But in 2.1 I couldn't find any AppManager?

plz guide me a bit.

Just go into the market a download astro file manager.
Then use that to install you .apk files.:)

When I try to search Astro File manager in Market,it closes immediately , so I can't install it.I think it happens due to a but in market application on my phone.but how I can fix this?

Do this and tell me if it works.
Got Setting->Application->Manage Applications->Click on the menu button->Filter->Then click on all.
Then scroll down til you find market click on it the clear cache and force stop also uninstall update if the options their.Wait 10mins and try again.

Whos your service provider if its AT&T then you will not be able to update to 2.1 yet they havent released it.
If its someone else download and run this then just follow the steps and it will tell you if your up to date or if the 2.1 update is available for you then just hit install and it will install 2.1 if its available.

If your on AT&T or the updates not available for you then the only way to get 2.1 now is to flash which will void your warranty.
If you want to anyway here my guide on how to do so.

It didn't work.I discovered that some root permission things are locked and this happened because of it.One of my friends fixed this problem by using Android SDK.He used adb command line tool to install AndExplorer on my X10 and then everything got fixed.

If you have some info about what did he do,plz tell me.Also is there any good book to understand Android structure and programming into Android smart phones?

Alright then give this one a try its like astro but i dont know if it will let you install the apk file im sure it does i just havent tried this is what its called in the market it to is free.
ES File Explorer just type in esfile and it should pop up.


EDIT:Alright it does open up and install .apk files i tested it by downloading the Angry Birds game and manually installing it through ES File Explorer perfectly.So ES File Explorer will now be my primary explore as i like the theme more and it came pre-installed on the ROM im on.

EDIT:The only problem it doesn't let you uninstall but this can be done by doing the following.
Settings->Applications->Manage Applications->Scroll down till you find your app click on it then hit uninstall and done.
Or you could download Astro File Manager and manually install it threw ES File Explorer and use that as it has a uninstall option.

And as for what your freind did simply google them their should be some links to the XDA Developers Forum follow it thats a good place to look for those questions.Ive never had to deal with these problems so i never used that method i always go for the simpler ways even if it means finding my own way.
 
anyone ever exited an app to go back to homescreen and nothing was there but the notification bar? you have to go right or left to get icons on the screen. i know radio scanner app is bad for this but it just happened to me when leaving the market tonight. anyone else?
 
the process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly.. endlessly... how can i fix this without factory reset...
very frustrated. its a new phone too.
 
i just bought a X10, it worked smooth and i updated it, when i tried to download anthing, a message appeared:
no matches found:pname%3acom.easyfilter.app2sd
what can i do?
 
A problem I've been having lately is that any time my phone is connected to my computer and I have the SD card mounted, my phone will freeze then reboot itself shortly after. After it does this, I can use the phone like I normally would while connected to my computer except that it says No SIM in phone. I can still make and receive calls, send/received SMS, etc. but there is no sound to the notifications. It's a weird thing that I just started noticing lately (hadn't hooked my phone up to my computer in a while).

Another one is that it seems after the latest update to Handcent SMS, my contacts pictures will no longer show up in Handcent SMS or in my Contacts list. I try resyncing them and that doesn't work. Not sure what is going on there. Any suggestions?

I think I'm very close to just repairing my install and hope that fixes the problems but I would like to see if there are other ways to remedy these issues. Any help is appreciated.
 
Has anyone else had problems switching from one text message thread back to the root to access another thread? Pressing back just jumps me back in the same thread. Anyone resolved this?
 
Hiya, I've had a fairly smooth experience with the update, all seems to have gone well except the loss of game data and unavoidable things like that.
The main problem I've had though is that the phone can't seem to get my contacts back off the memory card. It says 'cannot read vcard data' when i try and import the contacts and only shows me the SIM card contacts I have which are few and far between.
When someone whose data is stored on the memory card phones me it comes up with their details no problem, but when I try and find them on the phonebook they aren't there. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, can it be fixed?
 
Hi all,

I have noticed recently and ever since the 2.1 upgrade that email and facebook notifications are not coming through automatically everytime. Notifications are set to ON in the settings menu and every 15 minutes. Sometimes they come through but more often than not when I open the email app new emails are waiting that have been there longer than the automatic checking frequency. Same applies to FB messages. As soon as I open FB a new message notification sounds.
My phone is also very laggy since the upgrade.
Any ideas or thoughts anyone? Thanks.

P.S I am on the Orange network in the UK.
 
To access the Test Menu on Xperia x10 with
Android 1.6 all I had to was

Menu-> Back -> Back -> Menu -> Back -> Menu -> Menu -> Back

on the unlock screen.


But how do I do it now with 2.1?
I still haven't a way of doing it.
