My USERNAME gives me away: Fire Battalion Chief. I don't get to handle the hoseline or the ax much anymore.. but I work as part of the Command Team.
It's much more fun on the inside! (but the retirement pay is better as a Chief)
And, most firemen get a fair amount of time off: my "side gig" is working with the fastest growing company in America: Ambit Energy.

Onsite computer tech for 4 Elementary Schools, I charge of about 800 Mac computers and laugh everytime I see a teacher pull out a iPhone and I then tell them how much better my Android is then theirs, and I love bending over backwards for those with Android phones, helped one Librarian root her phone and setting up tethering on it for her.

Peace of mind is highly overrated. Of course so is financial stability. Achieving either is like catching seagulls ... with chopsticks ... blindfolded.

Catching seagulss with chopsticks not that hard...just might be a tad difficult with a blindfold. I'm pretty sure I'd stab innocent passerbys instead.

I'm independently wealthy after hitting the lottery. I spend my days lounging by the pool, unless I happen to wake up and think, "Disneyland sounds good today," in which case I charter a jet and head on out...

I'm an operator for an answering service. I don't make a whole lot of money, but it's usually a pretty easy, low-stress job. I think about going back to school sometimes, but at 37, I still have no idea what I want to be when I grow up. I'd kinda like to teach elementary school, but I'm very much not a morning person, and I don't delude myself into thinking I could suddenly become one. My dad wanted me to be a lawyer, and my mom wanted me to be a stand-up comic. I still entertain both ideas.

Well I'll have to disagree on that one. You can be poor, old and happy, sure, but you could also have regrets living that life. Not everyone can stand a "boring" life, some people need to have challenges and special events happening here and there.
It depends on your personality, which is influenced by only two things: your genes and your previous life experiences. You can't change these things, can you?

What I do for a living . . .
Well, I am a freelance technical writer. I tell people how to efficiently insert Tab "A" into Slot "B." Sometimes, how to rework BGA components or proper SMT setup. I also have something to do with printing, holographs, Philately, fine quality fountain pens, gem spheres, banjos and other odds and ends.
My theory was that I would never create the next huge corporation so I should best stick with doing lots of little things I know I can do better than those that laughingly pass for my competition.
I dabble in professional photography. I use this amazing stuff that many of you will need to ask your grandparents about: film. Large format materials and extraordinary printing quality, in dark rooms, with smelly chemicals.
That's about it.

I forgot to say what I do for a living: I steal phones and sell them. However I kept this awesome Nexus One I stole recently!
Seriously, my real job is to broom the streets during the summer. It sounds like the worst job ever, but actually I enjoy it quite a bit! Please note that I'm still a student and don't intend to do this for the rest of my life.

Actually no I am 26, and helping teachers with their phones is actually not part of may job description, my job is the computers, network and the servers, and that is essentially it, if I want to help a teacher with a phone setup I can, I just work in a heavy Mac environment that everyone has this view that the best device to have when you have a Mac is the iPhone. For example I have a principal who insists that the only way he would move to any carrier is if they got the iPhone because he rely's too much on his contact sync the the School's iCal server. And I show him how you don't need a need a Mac or even a USB cable to sync contacts or your calendar to my Android.
Now am I saying I don't help people with iPhones? Heck no, I am just willing to show the Android people tips and tricks on why Android is better then iOS.
My Job overall is 90% PR and 10% tech. Most teachers don't care how long it takes for you to fix a issue, they mainly care about if you let them know that your working on it, if it takes a week to get fixed, and you update them every few days on whats going on, they are just fine and happy.
Alot of people don't realize how great Android is until they have it shown to them, or even google as a whole. I have seen a lot of people they "hey i got this new phone, its not as cool as the iPhone, but its still cool" And then I point out all the stuff it can do, and then none of them would now even consider getting a iPhone now.
