Phone locked; caution triangle with exclamation

Phone lost charge during the day and now that I plugged it into charger, it prompted reboot using volume down then volume up. Now it just has symbol of the phone with a caution triangle and exclamation. Nothing responds on the phone and can't tell if charging either. Any help appreciated!

It sounds like it's trying to boot to recovery mode. If you hit the search button while the exclamation point is displayed it should take you to the recovery menu.
