FPSe (a better PSX emulator) is out in the market for ~$5.00

hmm im new to playing games on emulators, but this looks really good i might actually try it, so my very noob question:

Where do you get ISOs? or games for this?

I saw some websites but are all of these ISO repositories have compatible ROMs for all kinds of emulators?

(did my questions even make sense? lol)

Not on the market...............

(Samsung Epic)

WTF!!! Why doesn't this app show up in my market place on my Fascinate. I'm starting to hate this phone!!!

Not going to work on anything less than 2.2 unfortunatly. Im not about to reroot my device to just get this thing unfortunatly. I am however going to start getting even MORE pissed if Samsung doesnt hurry up and release froyo. I give them until the end of the month then im gonna raise hell...

My question though: Does Chrono Cross work? With sound and changing of disks and what-not? It has Metal Gear which is easily worth the 5 bucks.

Seriously dude, flashing a custom rom is a piece of cake..I do it daily almost beta testing for different people. Forget about samsung...anything they release is not going to match a custom streamlined custom rom either way.

Significantly faster than PSX4droid, actually playable for games other than Final Fantasy. Tried Gran Turosmo 2, which ran at about half to quarter speed in PSX4droid, and it runs fluidly in FPSE. Sound isn't perfect in the menus but in game it sounds fine, and the graphics are fast. Overall very impressed. Trying to download a copy of time crisis to try the Guncon out, but I might just have to dig through my old box of games and rip my own disc.

The save game functionality seems broken. I've tried a few ROM's, and the save file is corrupted. Also, I tried the save state functionality, but when you load a saved state, it's not quite right, and it renders stuff off-screen... kinda weird.

Anyways, if they fix the save game and save state functionality, it'll be awesome.

EDIT: Saving seems to be fixed in the latest update. Failed the first time I tried to save, but every since it saves properly. Resuming from save state still has graphical glitches, but usually rotating from portrait to landscape and back fixes it.

EDIT2: Running on DroidX, Apex1.4, 1221Mhz QuickClocked

Chrono Cross has slowdown for me during the battles. However, your Galaxy S has better hardware than my Incredible and may run it better.

MGS runs perfectly with a few little graphical errors here and there though.

I spent a few minutes playing around with Chrono Cross, doing some of the key features(other than watching any of the big scenes). What I came up with is this. Seems to run rather well, and what not, however, music seems inconsistant. During the beginning of the battle that I did, it seems a little slow, but seemed to speed up seconds into it. I will try some other stuff with Chrono Cross, and let you guys know what I find. Very happy though.

Tried on my Droid X, will try on Galaxy Tab, and post shortly.

EDIT: Testing on Galaxy Tab. Same result with sound being alittle inconsistent, definitely workable on both devices, but inconsistant. Also same issue with lag during battles, or when changing screens. I didn't try save state on my Droid X, but I tried it on my SGT, and it worked great. Props to developer, making ISO's of FFIX this weekend,

Which PSX role playing and strategy games are easiest to play with a touchscreen only device like the Evo? I'm open to recommendations of games in other genres that are also easy to play with touchscreen controls.

FYI, In gran turismo, I'd been able to make the controls physical by making volume up left, volume down right, camera focus gas, and camera shoot brake. Works pretty well, although I think braking might prevent me from turning, so I might have to use the on-screen for that, but works for most situations.

When I tried final fantasy VII the sound was kind of screwed up. The video was smooth but the sound kind of sucked.

alright so i put mroe time into this app and it is pretty much the best android 'game' lol. tony hawk pro skater 2 owns, tekken 3 owns, wwf smackdown 2 owns. kinda uncomfortable to play for a long time but oh well all virtual dpads suck

I tried the Guncon controller on Point Blank 2. It seems my touch registers it to shoot a tad lower than where my finger is. Is there a setting to adjust this?

I tried Time Crisis, and there's calibration for it before you play. Does Point Blank have calibration before you play or in a settings menu?

Wow I feel dumb, I totally forgot about calibration screens for gun games. I guess when I switched the controls while it was loading up it must've skipped the calibration screen the first time through. Got the calibration screen on the next try and it's on target now. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I am new to emulators but know I can play tons of games. Here is my problem... When I am playing an RPG like any of the Final Fantacy series or even Suikoden or Suikoden 2 and while I'm playing these games I decide to save it. So, I go to an Inn let's say on Suikoden to save my game and it asks me to pick a memory card slot and I pick one and it says that the game saved so then I quit out of the FPSE and then when I go back on the game later I click on continue instead of new game and then it asks which memory slot, so I pick slot one and then it says searching memory for awhile and then states that there is no saved game... why is this??? What do I need to do to know that the game is actually going to save when I am done playing for hours and want to pick up where I left off the next day??? Please respond!

I've been using a few emulators for a while and have grown accustomed to getting them to work.

Grungerocker, use slot 2 instead of slot 1, I don't know why it can't load slot 1, but slot 2 works for some reason. I had the same problem for Final Fantasy Tactics, which is an awesome game, by the way.

This thing is almost as fast as the windows counterpart, full speed for most games. I don't notice much graphical glitches even if I put the framelimiter at maximum, so I leave it that way. FF9 is very smooth too, I am very impressed with the fpse team, please support them as much as you can, they've been in development for about 10 years already.

Thanx firefek! I will give it a try. I also unfortunately discovered the the sound or songs in the games Suikoden and Guardians Crusade skip so I've got to try and tackle that now!

A friend of mine wanted to test a few games on his phone and downloaded a copy of FPSe off a file sharing site and had a bunch of problems. Tried them on my phone and they work great. Moral of the story, BUY THE APP, it's much better than the pirated copies online.

To grungerocker: You can always use the savestate functionality as well. I typically savestate a few times while playing, then save to memory card as a backup when I'm done playing just in case the savestate doesn't work.

Most likely because there have been a ton of updates to the app these last couple weeks and he didn't get the most recent one.

Okay, I'm pretty much ready to give up and delete the fpse and roms off my phone! I'm not even sure I'm doing anything right because it is always a negative end result. Here is my ordeal once again... I purchased the fpse on my Droid 2 R2D2 edition phone and then I purchased a rom finder and then I downloaded a few games just to try them out (Colony Wars, Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bash, Suikoden, Suikoden 2, Guardians Crusade and Tomba). While playing the games I tried to save them to memory card slot 1 and memory card slot 2 so I can come back to them later and a message would come up that the games saved. When I tried playing the games later they would search memory for a few minutes and then say that no game data or memory or save was found. I also tried the savestate idea and it seems to just freeze up the fpse or games. Is there anyone who can walk me through what to do or send me a link so I can follow the proper steps how to use the savestate or what to do with the memory card slots so that the games save properly?

I didn't have any luck on Area 51 either, sucks especially since it's my favorite light gun game. Seems to have the same problem on psx4droid too. What happens is the screen will split in half and the right and left sides will swap sides, so each half of the screen is on opposite sides.
