triumph specs are still better. it's sad they're still putting out phones with low specs. VM needs a flagship device.
im very very thankful they are finally moving to the 3.5 inch display standard. there should never be an all touchscreen phone with a smaller screen than that.
phones with slide out keyboards and the like are fine, but if the touchscreen is the ONLY input. no less than 3.5
i can recommend this to friends, as long as it comes out super cheap. unless its under $130 there is no point releasing it for virgin.

The sad thing about this phone coming to virgin mobile is that it will be another phone with 2.3 loaded and the triumph which have better specs is still on 2.2.

It might have a 3.5 inch screen... It might also have a 3.2 inch screen. Just do a google search for the lg optimus elite and you will find some reports say 3.2inch and others say 3.5inch...

This looks to be kind of a successor to the OV but with more modern specs. I know that's probably a little disappointing to a lot of us "hardcore" users here on the forums, but the reality is that VM's main demographic is low income people, who are gonna be more interested in a cheap low end phone like this.

Let's face it, it was the MT that brought a lot of attention to Virgin Mobile. Finally a device made by Motorola with great specs on a pre-paid plan.
I'd say, hardcore is how we've been treated by not being valued enough to have gotten an update that admittedly exists...

Except it was made by Huawei not Motorola and was buggy until CM7 was released for it.

This makes me want to punch VM USA, really hard. What the f**k is wrong with Virgin Mobile USA? Meanwhile we get shitty phones that are outdated in specs by generations, VM Canada is getting brand new, top of the line phones (Galaxy Nexus, anyone?), and LTE 4G. What the f**k is wrong with VM USA? I'm moving to T-Mobile, soon, hopefully. For the same price as the overpriced $30 plan Virgin Mobile has, you can get a decent plan with 5 GB 4G and 300 minutes from T-Mobile (with no throttling at 2.5 GB).
Was VM ever a decent company? Now that I think about it, all I can remember is horrible customer support, hardware defects, and an overall frusturating experience. To top that off, the charger port in my Triumph decided to commit suicide (probably to leave VM) so my Triumph can barely charge.
How do they seriously expect their customers to remain when all they crap out is subpar, defective phones, and overpriced plans? There's a reason that the top ROM developers for this phone (Tickerguy and Isaac) gave up and moved to another carrier. I hate to break it to you, but for most people, sticking with VM is overpriced. When my Triumph finally dies (or blows up, knowing VM), I'll likely move to another carrier, with decently priced plans, and phones that don't have an 80% defect rate. The Triumph seems like it had so much potential, which VM decided to squander.

Actually you should blame Sprint... After all Virgin Mobile USA was still it's own company would be like VM everywhere else. So in all reality it's not VM's fault, but rather Sprint's... A lot would probably be different if Sprint never bought out VMUSA... That's also why VMUSA customers get the crappy phones... Sprint chose to do give them crappy phones...

Prepaid users have always been treated like the red-headed stepchild of the cell-phone industry. I'm surprised we ever got smartphones at all. That said, I like my Triumph, but do feel like it has a lot of problems. I never would have know what rooting and ROM-ing were if this thing worked right out of the box.

Sprint just announced the release of the Optimus Elite for Sprint users for April 22nd (Earth Day) and will announce release date soon for VM. I'm not too interested in it. Personally, I'm waiting for the Evo 3D.
Still a junk phone, I just don't understand why it is so difficult to get a reasonable phone on VM? I realize they don't want to put the top of the line stuff on there because everyone will consider switching to save money but can they get something that is at least somewhat reasonable?

I don't know... if the price is right, I may jump ship. I have a Triumph. I'm getting tired of the little things like poor GPS reception, poor photo quality (the green blob), and the dust under the screen.

Like was said, this is Sprint. The whole purpose of VM is to capture low spending consumers without eating into their primary product with Sprint braded service. They are putting off releasing quality android handsets because phones are reaching a platue in improbability in user experience. This means that consumers will migrate away from contract carriers to the pre-paids as the old phones on pre-paids are almost as good as the new phones on contract carriers. It's already happening, but Sprint doesn't want to accelerate it by releasing a bunch of awesome phones on cheap service.

I got sick of the old VM phones and switched to Boost for the Marquee. It's not a good phone at all, but I don't want the triumph, and don't like any of the other phones. I won't go back to a 3.x screen either. At this point I'm looking for the best alternative, and will switch right away when I find something better. If VM came out with a good phone, I would switch right back. Boost has shrinkage, but since I have switched over, I have had outages weekly, with texting messed up all the time, terribly slow internet speeds, and other issues. I feel like I'm on Cricket again. I thought Boost would be similar to VM since they're both Sprint, but they're not. The guy I spoke to in customer service today said they have different towers they use. I saw that t-mobile has unlimited everything for $50 a month. I would switch, but don't like the phones they offer.

My GPS was pretty horrible until I flashed CM7. I instantly picked up a ton of satellites with strengths 30+
well t-mobile prepaid does have the bring your own phone option... straight talk as well
but yeah VM's phone selection was one big reason i gave up my $25/mo and went with ST's BYOD option (the other is sprint coverage around here is great... if you only want talk/text... data speeds are wildly inconsistent even for actual sprint customers... my worst ST speeds are equal to or better than my best vm speeds)
