Help Unlock G1

Lurker
Does anyone know how to unlock the G1? I bought it outright (no tmobile in my area), and tmobile will not give me the unlock code because I am not a customer. Any help would be great.

well id suggest you find someone that has tmobile account/service and ask them to call in and tell them hes going to europe and he needs to use a sim card of another carrier and needs the phone unlocked...after he gets the unlock code via email i think it takes about 24 hours...then you can use it for yourself!

You have to have the phone for at least 14 days before you can request an unlock code. Buyers remorse period and all. I'll get the exact terms from work tomorrow and see if there is anything G1 related now since I've been gone since Monday.

Tmobile already announced it will not be giving unlock codes until 90 days after purchase.
90 days after order date? 90 days after delivery date? Or is it 90 days after billing date? Inquiring minds want to know (I really will be abroad in January)

Similar to the xbox live/wow/lotro/WAR system.
Where doing certain actions talies up and say after 1,000 text messages you get a notification. and then next one being 5,000. and so on.
There could be some prizes, or points gained over time. Who knows, but this could be an interesting concept.

I was asking if people thought it would ever be developed, it seemed like a pretty obvious application with how popular these kinds of systems are in games these days.

They already have that...

... it's called your monthly cell phone bill!

:p

out of the billions of tmobile customers.. not a single one of them is your friend? o.o

do you know what xbox live/wow/lotro/WAR have in common? THEYRE ALL GAMES. well except for the xbox live which is an online service to a game console that plays games...

either way, achievement points for using a cellphone device? thats taking it a bit too far. Maybe a built-in achievement system for games developed on android sounds more likely possible. but getting an achievement for 1000 txt messages? seriously?
but i'm sure you can make an achievement "program" if you want to aslong as programmers can access the data fields inside the phone.

if (txt > 1000)
{ cout << "You get an achievement for wasting a crapload of txts!"; }
there. your program is done =D

can i get achievement points for making the program? :]

now i understand what he was talking about. i dont do games.
would appear to be good idea, but ...

whats the point? what are the benefits?

I live in Sweden :) a friend bought the phone for me in New York.
But it doesn't matter, i saw that you still can't use another SIM to make phone calls, i'll just buy an unlock code on Ebay if a software "hack" doesn't show up soon :)

I live outside USA, i unlocked my phone using services of htcunlock.net
i paid them via paypal and recieved unlock code in 3 hours
now i can use my home simcard on the phone, with no problem
