Is there no way on this phone to select "CDMA only" and "LTE and CDMA" like my Rezound had?

LTE on/OFF-HTC Thunderbolt works great on ICS. Takes you right to the settings to choose what you want it on. Free in the market or play store.

The app I mentioned lets you choose CDMA only. I have to do that at work as there is no 4G and no wifi available in the WWII building I work in.

How can it override the fact that CDMA only isn't a choice on my phone, at least without rooting? Usually those apps just make a shortcut to settings that already exist. Please help me understand.

Yep those are the ones I also use. You used to be able to go into settings but the CDMA only has been removed and Global is in its place. So the old way no longer works. LTE On/Off is free and takes you right to the settings to change it to what you want. You do not have to root to do this. My phone is stock ICS. It works great.

Is my ICS version bad or something? That Thunderbolt one makes no sense. Messing with it allows me to shut data off and turn it back on, that's all. I guess I must be missing something here. I have been unable to use any app or setting to turn off 4G and make my phone 3G.

At the end of the text and above those buttons there is a small "arrow" on the right side, touch that, it drops down the choices.

that will bring up a 'Testing' screen..under the 'Phone Information' tab, I believe, scroll about halfway down - there will be a drop down menu of network options...there will be a ton of them..

I've only confirmed that two work and work the way they're supposed to for my use..

If you enable 'LTE/CDMA/EVDO', that will allow the radio to pick up 4G/3G/1X (?) - whatever is best at the time.

Otherwise, I've been told to enable 'CDMA Auto (PRL)' - and this will be '3G/1X only mode', so to speak..essentially, turning off 4G natively without requiring some third party nonsense meant for another device.

Eh, alright.

I set the # as a contact and put a quick dial widget on my home screen.

Some people don't like to go 3rd party if they don't have to.
