If your operator won't fix it samsung should, their phones have 2 year warranty now (according to their UK support site)
Had the same issue in Oz, no sound during call (no problems with mobile data or any other sound / mic issues) and signal disappears for 30 seconds after hanging up. Emailed Samsung who advised to take it back to DSE for ELF replacement as it was within the first 30 days. If it goes back to Samsung authorised repair centre they will repair it under warranty, but back to place of purchase for exchange.
I use my phone as my mp3 player like many do. I "upgraded" from the HTC Thunderbolt and I really downgraded the audio to the very first tape based Walkman. I have tons of music from all over the purchasing spectrum (ripped, amazon mp3, zune, etc) and none of them sound good. The popping and crackling and dropping off is making me crazy. Verizon told me that they could replace it with a used phone and there is no other option.
Has anyone else run into this? Is there a solution?
I had the exact same issue with my Galaxy SIII. The phone drops all signal when a call is made and even if the call goes through, the line is just dead.
Don't let anyone tell you that this is a software problem, please. I had my device sent in twice now: the first time around, they said they found nothing wrong and just sent it back. The second time they magically found the problem and said it was a component failure: they would have to replace the entire main board.
So if you have this problem, take your device in for replacement/repairs A.S.A.P. and don't let Samsung fool you by making you believe you'll just have to wait for some OTA update.
I found an app to fix my sound issue. I searched Google Play for "Wired Headset Routing Fix "
So, only way to fix this is to send it back?
