Did You Know This?

A rag soaked in pure acetone will take the ink off of plastic containers. You can then decorate the blank containers with a sharpie, paint, or just leave blank and use for organizing just about anything.

Can't remember which side of the car your gas tank is on? Look at your gas gauge. Most cars have a small arrow pointing to the side that the tank is located. Having two cars, one with the tank on the left and the other with the tank on the right, I am always using this trick.

Make a set of 'cheating' dice. Set your oven to 250*. Lay your dice on a cookie sheet with the numbers you want facing up. Place dice in oven and cook for 10 minutes. The plastic inside will melt and then sink to the bottom causing the dice to land on the same side every time.

Tired of reaching into the bag and getting Doritos cheese all over your arm? Roll up the bottom of the bag to bring the chips closer to the top and create a perfect snack bowl.

Spraying Rain-X on your shower doors will make the water bounce right off and reduce build-up.

Had to put a band-aid on a booboo? Before you take the band-aid off saturate it in vodka. The vodka will dissolve the adhesive making it painless to remove.

I dont think i would feel much of anything! that is a well known effect! not much of a tip!

This is one I actually came up with on my own, although others may have done it as well.

You can microwave hotdogs and have them taste like steamed hotdogs like you would get at a ball park or state fair. Wrap them in a paper towel or napkin and wet it on each side. Zap them for 30 seconds, then flip them over. I put them so they across the corner of the paper towel so they are just hanging off the edge, flip them until I can fold the outside edges of the towel in (so the ends don't split) and then finish wrapping them, like a tortilla. Then soak the center of the paper towel in cold water on each side (the middle 3-4 inches). I have done this with up to 5 dogs, your mileage may vary depending on wattage of your microwave and number of hot dogs.

When cutting veggies or meat for scrambled eggs or other recipes, using a pizza cutter will make the job a lot quicker than chopping with a knife.

Clear your cookies before booking flights!! Many travel sites track the number of times you have visited and will base the price depending on this. By clearing your cookies it will look as though you are a first time visitor and your price will be lower.

Lets say you go on vacation and while you are gone the power goes out at your house. All of the food in your fridge and freezer thaw out. A couple days later the power kicks on again and your food refreezes. You then come home and open your fridge. Everything is nice and cold and you have no idea that the meat you got out to cook for dinner has actually gone bad and is going to make your entire family sick. So how can you prevent this from happening? Fill a leak proof container (jar, water bottle, ect..) half way with water. Place the container in the freezer on its side. Once the water in the container is frozen solid, place the container upright. If you power goes out the water will start to melt to the bottom of the container. Always check your container after being gone for awhile.

You can clean the stylus/needle of a record player with thin slivers of Magic Eraser sponges. You may not think you need it, but it can bring the life back into old, but not worn out stylii.

You can use a painters pad to knock the dirt out of a records grooves. This will reduce the amount of pops and ticks you hear and prolong the life of a stylus, just don't use much if any down force or else it will grind the dust in.

If you have a check engine light on in your car, take it to a auto store, not a mechanic. They will read it for free and you can determine whether or not it needs to go to a mechanic or if it just needs an oil change. Most mechanics charge for reading the CEL code.

When typing you can erase whole words by hitting Ctrl+Backspace.

If you have a laptop that has problems cooling, put a plastic bottlecap underneath each of the four corners. This will improve air circulation. Also works for old stereo amplifiers.

You can freeze buttermilk in ice cube trays measured out! No more wasting a whole carton every time a recipe calls for it.

Pour water into a mason jar and add a glow stick. Place jars around pools, patios, or sidewalks during you next late night get together.

I buy powdered buttermilk. You can also add lemon juice or other acid to milk as a substitution for buttermilk.
1 Tbs. Lemon Juice, Freshly Squeezed + 1 Cup Skim Milk

This great idea of storing bobby pins in a Tic Tac container has been floating around pinterest for a while now but did you know these Tic Tac containers could be used for so much more? Store a couple buttons, needle and thread and stash in your purse for an emergency sewing kit.Keep an empty one in your purse to store small items and keep them from getting lost (i.e. earring you lost the back to, broken necklace chain, button that fell off your blouse. Replacement screws for your eyeglasses, sunglasses. Safety pins. Small hairbands (perfect for little girls who like to pull theirs out all the time). Pill container. Spare change. Toothpicks.

Cut off the top of a pour spout container and insert it into the lid of a mason jar. Great for spices you use a lot of, adding sugar to your coffee, storing yeast in your fridge, keeping dry/powdered milk, garden fertilizer, and so much more.

Suprising how many folks dont know this. A little thing I have done in the past, when walking up to a vehicle (rental, or borrowing a friends vehicle), you can look to see which side the exhaust is on (dual exhaust doesnt apply), and the fuel fill door is on the opposite......in most cases.

Use tea tree oil to shine your pans!

I never knew about tea tree oil. We use a couple drops of dish washing liquid. Put some in the pan, add hot water (as hot as you have) and let it sit for about 10 minutes. (Longer if it's really baked on). Then wash as your normally would.
