I don't think so.
*that's why you don't use macs*
wow windows fanboy. did you read his question?
your phone is google based. in order to activate it, you have to have a google account. how does this become an issue with mac? everything on the phone side is based on google so how would you be able to sync without using google?
to CA-Ken, sorry to say it, but the moment you activated your phone, you immediately placed your contacts and calender on a google cloud.
Completely incorrect. you can bypass the google sign in.
then obviously we didnt know that, so why didnt you just say that the first time?
if thats true, then bypassing the google login, he could then use a mobile me account and keep everything synced over the air, or i am sure there are other ways that things can be synced, even down to plugging in the phone on a regular basis.
maybe sometime within the next week or so we can actually help this person with their question.
I thought that was common knowledge o.o
Could we re-wind just a bit? I am a Mac user and have considered an Android phone, but my understanding is that there is no fool-proof way to sync (TWO WAY sync, please) the Mac's iCal and Address Book with the corresponding Google applications (contacts & calendars), and that third-party software like Missing Sync that claim to do so is both buggy and pricey. *Is* there any way for long-time Mac users like me, with tons of info on iCal and Address Book, to use an Android phone without constant fiddling and frustration? Anyone? (And yes, I know, I *could* just get an iPhone -- but I like having a phone that works, so my mobile service provider is Verizon)
Vandyblackandgold: Thanks for trying, I appreciate it.
However, making my iCal calendar public is out of the question, and CalDAV (a) doesn't work as indicated (it just hangs and hangs) and (b) only allows an existing Google calendar to be imported into iCal, not the other way around ... so, unless I'm totally off-base here, syncing iCal and Google Calendars just can't be done.

I am also trying to sync an Apple Address Book with Google, so I looked for "Synchronize with Google" in my Address Book Preferences and do not find it - only Synchronize with MobileMe, Exhcnage, and Yahoo. Is there another way?
i used the help page in google itself. it was using CALDAV. works well once you configure it.

), What exactly do you think google is going to do with your info, start cold calling your friends? Last I checked Address Book only displays the 'sync with Google' option if you've connected an iPhone to your Mac (as have done so at least once at some point in the past, rather than having to connect an iPhone every time you want to sync local/cloud). There is a plist file hack to set the flag manually so that it shows up.
I am running Leopard though, so it's entirely possible that in Snow LEopard the feature is universally available without the hack or an iphone.
Is it possible to sync directly between Mac iCal and Address Book to [any] Android (T-Mobile 3Geee) without using intervention from Google sync? ...
I don't think so. ...

i believe snow leopard has the sync option. im running snow leopard and i dont have an ipod touch or iphone and i have the sync to google option.
i apologize for my previous post... i thought what was asked was a calendar sync with ical.
but not syncing to google? a manual sync may be possible... but why not just go through google when you have a google phone?
