Root (Port) Behold II Factory 1.6

How is the speed of this rom and keyboard accuracy/responsiveness compared to a stock BH II without root? Hopefully its faster and does this rom include swype?

This rom isn't too much of a difference other than it is running 1.6 and not 1.5, I'm not sure about the keyboard, but I do know if you want a fast rom and swype, then use the 1.6 No touchwiz rom! (not to be mistaken as the 1.6 galaxy rom)

yes the swype keyboard is great, after seeing the commercial for the samsung omnia 2, and saw it , now using it, it is very good, no tapping....its like you are writing almost.

i am using this rom because i still like TW, can't wait for 2.1 :)

Can someone help me? I've gotten the correct drivers and adb recognizes my BH2 in command prompt. I've rooted the phone. I've DL'ed this 1.6 rom and when I try to put it on my phone, it keeps stopping somewhere near the beginning. Every time I try, it only goes that far. I restart phone, shut it down, then start up Download Mode and try it again and again and it keeps doing the same thing. Am I missing something?

Now my phone can start up (after I did a Master Reset) and everything scrolls fine, but I have no cell signal/service. What is it that's going wrong?

If your phone is booted up but you aren't getting a cell service, your SIM card probably went bad. I have that happen to me a lot with my 3 lines. Call T-mobile and have them go through it to see if your SIM card went bad, if it did they will send you a new one or go to the store to get a new one.

Use different USB port when ODIN. See if it works.

First and Foremost, I want to thank BH_Man sooo much for his efforts and work. I have now given up calling, emailing, and posting on the T-mobile forum on their unwillingness to update the phone. Secondly, I feel proud that a fellow Duck is leading the charge in this area. He has brought an inner peace back into my life.

Now, for a quick question. Kinda of a noob, but maybe more like an advanced noob. I have the latest 1.6 factory installed. When I use my computer with cmd of adb shell, I get root access. However, when I try to run a few apps that require root, I get permission denied, "here1here2here3". Also, how do I delete some of the bloatware?

I got swype working on a stock BH II. I didn't realize the apk could be installed just as easy as the Mytouch.

If I run the 1.6 donut rom without touchwiz, is there a noticeable speed increase over a completely stock BH II? Also, is there anyway to remove all the unnecessary crap Samsung has put on here to increase ram and speed? Lastly, on a stock BH II there is no way to disable notifications under messaging to avoid getting two alerts of using Handcent or Chomp. With the new roms, can this be changed?

Did you try to search this thread for any of your questions?

Okay. I think I may have lost my mind. I downloaded the stock Behold 1.6 w/ factory software. I have done everything verbatim in regards to root, a2sd, etc. It all seems to work just fine right after I install or run commands. But, if I try to run a root program from market, phone freezes at the su screen, and doesn't even make it to the allow/deny screen. Then with the a2sd, I even went as far as partitioning the card in ubuntu 9.10 just to make sure. Installed the apk's verbatim from the scripts listed at the beginning of the post but nothing. doesnt work apps still eating up phone memory. Guys what am I missing here? Please help, stressed out and don't want to just give up. Thanks for any help in advance.

Okay Guys, It's Time For true TouchWiz 1.6.. This is Full Factory with Bloatware still installed...

A2SD Options & Install
Un-zip Playlogo & Playlogo_real to any location ( Desktop I alway do )
adb push ( a2sd_BH2 Folder Location! ) to /system/bin
a2sd_BH2.zip

Credits to Mark TWain

I don't know hot to do this @ all!!! plz can anyone explain* I've tried so many time already this is why I'm asking for help:o

Thanks for OP's great work.

A2SD is not working after I did the playlogo etc through adb followed by reboot.

A2SD works great in the other two 1.6 ROMs (No_Twiz and No_Twix) though.

I would re-ODIN, I've had a few FCs from Google Voice, but its not that often.

Is there a way to re-ODIN without losing everything? lol..

What are you scared to lose? Google backs up contacts, calendar, and gmail. If its apps, you can buy Titanium Backup from the Market, or do what I do, and after ODIN, visit the downloads section of the market, and it has the list of all of your previously installed apps.

There is also a thread which shows how to save Handcent & K9 settings (can be applied to any apps settings I suppose.
