Lollipop 5.0 [Its out! 11/12]

Just flash the device. It's pretty easy if you can run a few commands in Windows. Instructions are in this thread...

Last time I tried, I ended up in an infinite boot loop. I'm just not good with that. Also I'm running OSX :o

I thought maybe I could force the OTA.. oh well :o

Curiosity. Is encryption on by default, or is that just new devices like the Nexus 6? Does it allow you to turn off encryption or do we have to wait for a XDA type solution for that?

Only new devices. That's why all the reviewers are complaining about the n6 r/w speeds on benchmarks. They dont understand it'd encrypted.

WUG's toolkit works for installing the stock image... it didn't work for unlock/root for me... had to reflash stock.

Confident this will be fixed soon :)

Nexus Root Toolkit v1.9.3 | WugFresh
Wugfresh is very nice but I learned from some of the users here that it is best to know how to do these flashes manually for two reasons. First, you kinda start to understand how all this stuff works and second you don't have to wait for the community to create a one button solution everytime a new factory image is released. I learned how to fastboot flash images on Kitkat's release thanks to everyone in this forum and it's saved my ass for the last year. Including tonight. :)

I prefer the one button solution :)

Debating whether or not to try flashing this, given that I have essentially no idea what I would be doing

Flashed it yesterday night. Today I flashed the new Elemental X kernel and SuperSU 2.19. Everything works flawless and without any issue.

Not got round to flashing it yet, did find time to do my Nexus 10 though (wanted to see it running on there more urgently due to running the preview on my N5 since it was available)

I'm hoping everyone is liking it, I love it.

Okay I'm gonna try to flash this... wish me luck... it's unlock, flash, relock, right?

You don't really need to relock at the end. Personally, I left it unlocked (in case I need it later)

* Backup all your data
* Unlock the bootloader if you haven't done so - this will wipe all your data. steps - don't forget to try "fastboot devices" to verify that fastboot can detect your device correctly before doing anything with fastboot
* Flash (don't try the flash-all script - it has some problems. Unzip the tar file and extract all the individual image files, and flash them one by one in sequence (follow guidelines in method 2 of the first post here

Assumes of course that you have fastboot drivers installed

I must admit that I wasn't expecting that significant decrease in performance with encryption. Arstetechnica's video made the N6 look terrible

I see, well, beside Dashclock I never used other widgets. I'll get used to it.

Now I just hope Tapatalk update their app. The dark theme is unusable right now.
