Root [Boost Mobile] Tri-Band S3 (SPH-L710T)

So I tried rooting my phone tonight following the instructions in the OP and it did not work. I got a fail in Odin. So I spent way too much time trying to fix that problem until I flashed the superuser zip upped by rootinghaven and boom I am now rooted. Cheers mate and thanks!
 
BTW this phone was $80 on Best buy for black friday so there will be a ton of people looking to root and ROM this phone. We need some love from the dev's and a more organized guide to help people. I am grateful to the OP for his efforts and it was his list that got me started, but it is incomplete.

I am very impressed with the phone right out of the box. It is much nicer than my ZTE Awe even though we have a great little dev community going on with that phone.



That sounds like great news although I am a learn by doing type guy so until I get my SD card I wont really know for sure. I hope some others will start testing this method. It could be pretty sweet if it would unlock every S3 rom out there.

I've been running wicked x with no issues for a month or so already. I did it the same way as Sean described a few posts up. I switched the ktoonsez kernel that comes in wicked x out with the one in OP to fix rotation. No other issues except when I went screwing around with the dialer menu options the other day but that was my fault.
What is missing? the .tar file? I need to make sure this won't cause me any issues first but I have my original rooted backup I did with philz. I can restore it and do a custom backup or whatever, i guess let me know any info u can about whats needed and how

Does anyone on here have a link to a rooted stock L710TVPU0ANF4 rom? This is the first time I've ever tried the rooting process and from what I've read the only way to flash in a stock recovery without a computer is to flash a stock rom... If I'm wrong though someone please tell me i need all the help i can get right now.

You will need a computer because the only way I know to root is to use odin to install philz and then flash the su zip posted above.

Yeah. You don't want to flash a rom yet till there's more ways to save this device from a brick

And yeah... use Odin to flash the costume recovery then just download supersu from the play store.

The files above are a little old.. would post links idk if you are allowed on this site. Just joined.

And there is a mobile Odin I believe but pretty sure you need root.... so if you have no computer. You can't do much

There has to be a way, i know there is. i just have to find it. Maybe if i found a working hotspot and went online with my ps3 and used jodin3. .. would that be possible?

By the way I was here before u so before u talk u still a newbie on this superuser got to be updated from the playstore after u flash the zip

With the most up-to-date philz recovery you do not need to flash supersu... philz will install the upto date su binary. But yes your way works to. I just liked have the newer recovery.

I don't know anything about jodin3 or how far it's cone but you need java to be able to use it. If ps3 supports idk.. something to look in to. Do you have a modded ps3 ?
