Root (Port) Behold 2 1.6 ( No Twiz w/ Busybox & Rooted Kernel )

Take5 will have some the Touchwiz baggage but it is also more native for the phone so vibrate will work and I expect it may have the enhanced camera app that comes with Twiz. I do not know all the changes in store for Take5 so I can not be sure of this, just speaking general terms based on previous No Twiz builds.

I like the enhanced camera app and would like vibrate so if Take5 is as stable as R10 has been for me I will run Take5. If Take5 does not bring these enhancements or ends up having other issues because of the Twiz stuff, I will stick with R10.

I have been flip flopping between the two different ROMS for a while now, it is not an easy choice for me.

Thanks for the insight. I will wait for Take5. But, what is TWIZ?
 
Honestly Take5 will be better because it will have the same tweaks as R10, but it will also have vibrate and Samsung camera!
 
Am I missing something here? I try to load the BOOT/PDA, PHONE/PDA, and al three into ODIN and every time I load the second one, ODIN crashes on me, I would like to try this out, I hate bloatware but love the camera. Someone please help.
 
I personally think there are 2 points that the galaxy rom is better than twiz:
+ the gallery app from galaxy rom organizes contents better than the Twiz.
+ when you view pictures, move from one pic to another is super fast and smooth.

possible to have galaxy gallery app in take5? if cant, is it due to the framework thingy? sorry if this has already been discussed.
 
You can have the Galaxy 1.6 gallery app in the Behold II 1.6 No Twiz, but the gallery app is rolled up inside the camera app. What I did was remove the camera app from /system/app and drop in the galaxy 1.6 camera app. though when you do this you gain extra camera/camcorder icons, and you lose the audio postcard option. You can even copy over the galaxy 1.6 calendar and browser. What you cannot copy over is the phone/dialer/contacts as these have requirements in the framework.jar which requires some major skill to edit, which is why vibration doesnt work for that rom.

Yes, I have warheads on my behold 2 and I have flashed the cyanogenmod rom on my sons G1. I did try the 2.1 version but it drained the battery in like 2 hrs. It did say that it was experimental. Worked great but 2 hrs without doing anything on it.

I'm waiting for my wife to decide to flash her Cliq but rumor is that 2.1 will be released this quarter.
 
2 Glitches/FC i just want to address in Warheads build

Lag/Glitch on the Dailer during call
Press and Hold 1 to access voice-mail FC

Just wondering if anyone else has these problems

when you remove the stock camera app from No Twiz, are you not erasing the samsung camera software as well? if yes, why are there extra camera icons, will the original icons not be deleted when one removes the app?

anyway, if by wanting the galaxy gallery app in No Twiz means giving up Samsung camera app, then I will pass, the galaxy gallery app is really good to have, but the samsung camera is a must have :D

try the new kernel which BH_MAN has released, may help :)

kernal.tar (Rev 6)

after downloading, no need to unzip, just flash like you are flashing a new rom with ODIN, simply put the OPS file (from Warheads) in the OPS section and the kernal.tar file in the PDA section, make sure debug only box on the left is UNCHECKED.

getting 'invalid image' error message when you add in the kernel.tar to PDA is normal, just close the pop up box and ignore it.

xLeo I see you deleted your above question after I posted this answer below:
All .29kernel revisions have the same description since bh_man has edited the existing .29 kernel. It doesn't mean that you already have it! Bottom line of you didn't flash kernel today you don't have it.

You shouldn't have done that as others have the same question about kernel versions and now we all will have to keep answering them. And how bout a thank you for answering your noobie question?
 
Just flashed Kernel... im getting swype fc

anyone have the latest swype apk... i might push it and see if it'll work

Pushed a New Swype apk so now the fc is fixed

but press and hold 1 in dailer still fc... any thoughts?
