Root (AT&T) Can't Sideload apks anymore.

@Mikestony , yeah I used SU. And okay, I'll check that out! So basically, I would just download this: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SGH-I747/ATT/ and then use odin to flash it? I think I may need help using oden to flash because I have no clue how to do that.
Well, before you flash that firmware (looks to be 4.1.1) we have to make sure you can without bricking as you are on 4.4.2.
Sometimes (at least with the Verizon variant) you cannot/should not downgrade versions.

I'll at least move this into the root forum for your device and check on that more tomorrow night.
I really need some shuteye now:D

Oh..hmm okay well I guess ill download this tonight and wait for a response tomorrow. Thanks for the help today!

I have found and used rooted versions in zip file that you can flash in custom recovery. I think with Kies you click on tools then software initialization. It should read what's already on your phone. I'll post a link to the update zips in a few.

When you look in settings-about phone, the last 3 characters of the build number and the baseband version should match and version for 4.4.2 it should be either NJ1 or NJ2.

NE4 is good, that means you haven't received all the updates yet. If you have a custom recovery already installed you can download the update zip from the XDA link for NJ1. Actually two zips cause the modem and bootloader are separate. Then if you want to fully update, do the same with NJ2. Easy way to update without the MD5 tar files. Hopefully fixing all the glitches you been having. Instructions in the link are good and easy to follow. Recommend reading the whole thread. If you have any questions post back and I'll try to answer as soon as possible. With firmware, you can go up alpha-numerically, NJ1 being higher than NE4. Can't downgrade

It's best to do updates this way one step at a time just like you would if you received them OTA. The stock recovery zip is also a good thing to download and save.

Alright. My plan right now is to install a custom rom (Cyanogen Mod), then flash NJ1 from recovery, and finally flash NJ2 from recovery. Does that all sound correct?

If you don't already have CWM,TWRP or Philz Touch recovery installed, that would be the first step. I don't think you can flash these update zips with stock recovery. I'm partial to Philz Touch. Then download both zips for Nj1 to pc then copy to phone. Boot into recovery and select install zip. Flash the first then the second then reboot.

Alright so I finally got everything downloaded, what do I flash first from NJ1? The actual upgrade or the boot loader first?

Update: It worked!! Thank you guys so much for all of your help! You all just made my day so thank you! Doing that actually fixed a few issues with my phone. It fixed an error that wouldn't show that I had service, it now shows my baseband ID and I can side load apks now! Thanks @Mikestony , and @Jfalls63!

After you flash both zips and reboot, its common for phone to be stuck on ATT boot screen for upto 5 min before it settles and finishes boot.

I actually updated to NJ1 and then instantly went to 2 because I thought everything was working, but no the baseband is still NE4
