What do you dislike about the Turbo 2

That's the plan for tomorrow. Hopefully I can find them in a store. It just developed a second purple line in it.

Doesn't the receipt have an order number on it? Or it may be in the my documents section of the my Verizon section when you log in to your account on verizonwireless.com. (It is for my recent phone purchase.)

There was a manufacturer that made a very nice matte finish screen protector for the MAXX, I know because I have one but cannot for the life of me find the email for where I ordered it from. Anyone happen to remember that company? Do they make same for the Turbo2?

I bought the "[6-Pack] Dmax Armor® Motorola Droid Turbo 2 Anti-Glare & Anti-Fingerprint (Matte) Screen Protector" on Amazon. You get 6 of them for a song, and I was able to install it perfectly without bubbles on the second try (first one was misaligned and with some bubbles). Very good quality, but I'm ordering the same brand and model in "clear" instead of matte anti-glare because it dimmed the screen a little bit and I had to crank up the brightness. I hope that the clear version will let more light through. I had tried to put a glass screen protector twice, but it left both times large pockets of air, impossible to get the entire glass to stick (I would push all the air out and as soon as I released the pressure, it would creep back in). That was the "
Tempered Glass Screen Protector, TJS® 9H Surface Hardness/Anti-Scratch/Shatterproof/Anti-Fingerprint/Water & Oil Resistant/Delicate Touch" That's too bad, because the glass was nicer for swipes than the original naked screen and much better than the plastic film protector (matte anti-glare), but I couldn't stand the ugly air pockets.

Update: I got the clear version of the same brand ("[6-Pack] Dmax Armor® Motorola Droid Turbo 2 Screen Protector Anti-Bubble High Definition Clear Shield" on Amazon) and installed it bubble-free on the second try (the pack comes with 6 screen protectors!) It looks fantastic. It lets more light through, is almost invisible, and is more responsive to swipes than the matte version (although you lose a little bit of responsiveness compared to the original naked screen). What's more, the screen is as sharp as the original screen, whereas the matte version made it look almost pixelated under certain angles. Highly recommended.

After I got my Droid setup how I like it (started a whole thread on that) and I was able to start really using it, I guess my major gripes would be:
a) battery life is not as expected
b) my brother's Nexus 6 just updated to the latest Android version and we're still stuck on old software
c) speaker phone gets really weird if you cover the hole next to the Droid logo
d) I don't really get the whole wave your hand at your phone thing, I'd prefer a real home button
e) initial setup menu didn't help with Moto Voice and numerous other features, making the phone difficult for an Android novice

I don't know if you guys find that last one to be legitimate, and my situation probably could have been remedied by going to the Verizon store and participating in the new phone handholding experience, but as a technically proficient person, I found the setup of this device to be less than easy. The failure of "OK Google" to work out of the box was particularly frustrating.

It really can take a while to get used to a new phone.

The opening to the left of the Droid logo I believe is a port for noise cancellation when you are using speakerphone, so I'm not surprised it would be weird. Why would you cover it anyway?

Battery life of Android phones just isn't as good as iPhones, but Android does do more background processing than the iPhone allows (even if you have background processing allowed for apps.)

Waving your hand (or just moving the phone) is meant to show the Moto Display, which can let you know which notifications you've missed since the last time you had the display powered on - a replacement for the blinking LED light most Android phones have, and something that the iPhone lacks. It has the ability to power on without pressing the power button as another feature. If you wanted an Android phone with a hardware home button, there are phones that you could have purchased instead that have good battery life - in particular, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 or the S6 Edge+.

It's just the way it is that non-Nexus Android phones lag behind on version updates, and if version updates are important to you, I'd strongly suggest returning the Turbo 2 and getting a Nexus 6P or Nexus 5X instead.

Part of the delay in new releases to non-Nexus devices is that the other devices have functions that the Nexus device does not. These need to be revised and tested.

Setting up Touch less Control is a little "odd" to get used to but once it is done ... it is done. I find it to be one of the most intriguing aspects. In my Turbo (still waiting for the Turbo 2 to arrive) I carry it in my shirt pocket.

While driving ...

If I receive an SMS message I have a Tasker Profile read it to me. If it can't wait I park and reply.

If I'm lost ... I say ... OK Turbo Navigate Home ... and it gives me turn-by-turn instructions on getting home.

Never touched the screen.

What is the definition of good battery life? What is the definition of bad battery life?

I'm not sure which hole you are covering. The one in the front next to the Verizon logo is the speaker. The one in the back next to the Droid logo is the microphone. I can see where covering either of them would hider their use.

One final point ... when I encountered Touchless Control for the first time (only from Verizon) I thought it was absurd. After using it for a day I found it very intriguing. After using it for a while I concluded that it was "the future".

Wit at my desktop working away with the Turbo nearby. As I type on my windows machine ... I say ... OK Turbo weather and it tells me the current weather conditions as I continue to type.

What I do not like about the phone not sure everything works out of box I will not like an update that destroys this perfectly working smartphone

I have had the phone for a couple days now. My only complaint thus far is the ergonomics of the phone. It is harder to hold than any other phone I have had. Still trying to find the most comfortable grip on this phone. I did order the Motorola Flip Case thinking the increase in thickness would help my grip. Still waiting for the case to arrive.

What surface did you get on your Turbo 2?

I did the black ballistic nylon on the Turbo and the Turbo 2. I found that material to be the absolute best surface I ever had on any phone. No slipping. I always knew it was the Turbo when reaching for it and never looking.

All the other surface options seem to be "pretty oriented". Ti me the ballistic nylon is rock solid.

I got the black leather back. I liked the nylon when at the store, but it felt more slippery than the other options. The issue I have is the thinness at the edges. They seemed to cut into my hand when trying to hold. It isn't painful just different and slightly uncomfortable. I will adjust though. I just need to find the right hold and memory train my hands to always hold it that way. Just trying to find the right setup for myself.

There are two flavors of ballistic nylon on the Turbo 2 ... the old one like the Turbo ... the new one that is called "softy touch". I was referring to the first one. It is not slippery.

This might be what is causing your problem.

I thought there were only 3 choices for the back. Soft Nylon, ballistic nylon, and leather.
So far battery life has been great.
I agree that holding the phone is the only thing I dislike. It is a little to wide for my hand, and I'm always hitting the buttons. I'm trying this case, has some grip on the edge:

Two nylon choices ... both are described in Moto Maker as ballistic ylon ... the one not on the Turbo is referred to there as Soft Touch ballistic nylon.

The "original" ballistic nylon like the Turbo is the only one I handled that did not seem slippery to me.

Are you completely happy with the new phone they sent you? I had to return mine because of a defective camera.
New one due December 3rd.

That's good to hear.. I changed up my "designed by you" to bronze ballistic nylon with metallic orange accents. My SD card came yesterday. (SanDisk Extreme PRO 64GB UHS-I/U3 Micro SDXC Memory Card Speeds Up To 95MB/s With 4K Ultra HD Ready-SDSDQXP-064G-G46A)

The ballistic nylon on the Turbo was the most comfortable phone I ever handled. The finish in the nylon makes it very resistant to slipping and it doesn't take much effort to hold it.

The ballistic nylon on the Turbo 2 is even better then the Turbo. I think it comes from the slightly sharper edges of the metal ftame.

I'm very close to getting this phone, but the only thing that has been holding me back so far is that root isn't available (yet).

I did. I returned EVERYTHING that was in the package I received in the box I received.

They sent me a FedEx (next day delivery) mailing label to Chicago that I took into the shipping company and it was attached to the original box.

I was given a special code by e-mail and address to a special entry to Moto Maker. I then had to give it the code and go through Moto Maker to define the replacement.

I don't the two I guess you would call it lock screens. If i'm using a password, PIN, or pattern I shouldn't to swipe first and enter my password, PIN, or pattern that seems counter productive. You can't setup different volume for notifications or ringtone for notifications for each contact. If you can I haven't found out to yet. The double swipe to reach your settings is annoying. My battery life stinks. I'm not a heavy user and my battery doesn't last the day. My has benn on for 3hrs and I'm already down to 90% and I haven't talked or done anything on it today. My Note 2 had a better battery life than this. You can't add new pages to your home screen. You have to add a bunch apps to get them to be added. I will be returning this phone and getting something else. For this to be a flagship phone to me it's a fail and it comes with a bunch of bloatware and should have had Marshmellow on it and not Lollipop. I tried using the battery saver feature. I don't know about anybody else having the orange bars on the top and bottom is annoying. If you power the phone off you have to remember to turn it back on. It also really slows down your phone.

I'm using my LG HBS-750 bluetooth headset and it keeps putting my phone driving mode and that is quite annoying

FWIW, you can swipe down with two fingers to access settings. A single swipe brings down the notification shade, a second swipe brings down the settings shade, but a two finger single swipe brings down the settings bar as a quick shortcut.

You can't add new pages to your home screen. You have to add a bunch apps to get them to be added.
You can drag any icon or widget to the far right of the screen, and that will open a new home screen. The screen doesn't have to be full first.

Or, of course, you can easily install a third party launcher (like Nova Launcher) that has the legacy Android multiple home screens, with the center screen the default.

That's fair. If it doesn't work for you, get the phone that does.

To be fair on Marshmallow, there aren't many non-Nexus phones with Marshmallow right now, including the Samsung Note series.

Welcome to Android Forums.

I use Nova Launcher Prime, Pixel Phone Pro, and Tasker on all my devices.

Pixel Phone Pro allows you to assign a ringtone to a contact. I have not encountered anything to set individual volumes.

Nova Launcher Prime includes gestures to use on the home screens. Some that I like ...
  • double-tap - toggle notification bar on/off
  • single finger swipe down - expand quick settings (the one you are using two actions to get to)
  • double finger swipe down - open app drawer
Battery life - have you done a Wipe Cache Partition deleting all temporary data. It can become contaminated and cause performance problems and excessive battery drain on (any) Android device.

These apply to all Android phones and not just the Turbo 2.
