Boost, Virgin,Sprint Rooted MM!!!

After reading through chainfire's posts on xda about rooting 6.0, it seems we're at an impass. While the one click method can get the su binaries in place, they will never execute due to selinux. The only solution at this time is to patch the bootloader, and the problem with that is, we have no fastboot. We need to find a way to get fastboot enabled, otherwise we're stuck hoping for an exploit that may never come. It's sad to say it, but rooting may only be a possibility for 5.1 users. And currently, there's no way to downgrade after taking the update, which again, should require fastboot to be enabled. The only other way I could possibly think of to patch the boot.img, would be by modifying an ota update that could install through the stock recovery, which is a feat I've never seen, or even heard of being done.

Thanks. Used kingroot to get temp root and deleted some system apps that I've had disabled. Also edited the build.prop to enable adoptable storage (now before i use it im trying to figure out if i can partition my sd card and use only half as adoptable storage)

But anyway the interesting thing is that after reboot i did lose root but rootexplorer acts like it still has some root access as it lets me see system files (with no root access it does not let you see the files)

I'm about 100% sure there's no way this could work considering this method is meant for the 1st gen Kindle Fire... but if anyone is willing to take a risk, there may be a method of achieving fastboot here...

While I'm aware how stupid this sounds... I don't actually think there's any way it would work... I'm just curious if you guys think there's any way we could achieve something similar... If so then we could use fastboot to patch the bootloader. This is all I can think of that could help...

can someone on their rooted mm stylo pull a 6.0 system.img and boot.img? im trying to get mm working on tmob and stylo. so far i was able to confirm that most files (boot.img, system.img) do run across the two devices. the ls770 5.1.1 systems radios were broken on the ms631/h631 obviously, but the system and kernel run smoothly otherwise. also works across kernels. i was able to dd and boot the ls770 5.1.1 system.img on top of the ms631 boot.img. radios are a simple fix once i have the device running the right firmware.

@modhatter6811 the bootloader is unlocked on the ms631/h631, the only differences in the two is radio hardware. maybe someone with root could try to dd the aboot from the ms631/h631 to their laf or recovery partition to safely test it and possibly an unlocked bootloader.

Does that mean ls660 on 5.1.1 could use the unlocked bootloader from ms(H)631 5.1.1?
I think you might ask @ TMacgnoplia for the system pull I sent last month for MM for ls660. I'd re-do and send it but my phone is at LG getting unbricked.

not sure.. ive not tested an img from an ls660

Hmm, I've tried this but for some reason the system always hangs at 90% when I download the KingRoot app. I put the commands in and then downloaded the app and ran it, but it literally hangs on 90% and I can't do anything until I pull the battery. Is there something I'm missing here?

Edit: never mind I figure out I was using the wrong app like a dumby :p Oopsies!

Yesterday my Boost LG Stylo rebooted (yet again) on its own and I used Kingroot to regain temp-root access. The app obtained full access (finished with reporting that full root - 100% was successful) and I waited to see what the outcome would be before posting results.

Today My phone (Boost LG Stylo) rebooted (AGAIN - that frustrates me) and booted with a boot error message of:

"
[910]-----------------------------------------------
[910]
[910] Secure booting Error!
[910] Error Code : 1003
[910] MODIFIED!!
[910]
[910]-----------------------------------------------
"

I'm going to try "reinstalling" an update via "Recovery" since I can get to it and see if that helps. I
ll post the update here.

Update:
The phone won't read SD Card from Recovery. I now need to replace my BRICK.
:(:maskeddroid::wtfdroid:

Word of warning, Use caution if you want to install "BusyBox", I'm thinking that could be the "MODIFIED" file that caused my phone to fry/brick. Though I can't be too sure about that idea given the fact that I had installed it before I had gained "full Root" access and there had been two or three reboots without trouble.

just bricked mine for the 2nd time. I was using kingroot too, no prob. I was trying to add tethering in build.prop. I hope LG will fix it again. I never had problem with kingroot, but have heard this problem a couple times, Good Luck! I tried to do update zip from recovery mode too, but it kept saying sd card wouldn't mount.

My post on XDA ...

Sprint lg g stylo updated from LP 5.1.1 from here to MM 6.0 from this forum. Lost root etc so I installed kingroot on the phone and have ran it with no problems and have root success, but it does take 2 runs for kingroot to do the trick and the phone does lose root on a reboot. I was able to debloat a bit and if I do need a reboot I just rerun kingroot again 2 times and have root again. I have not tried to replace SU.

Edit::.. I also had busybox installed - after I made that post.

For the past 12 days this has held and the phone has worked fine with no ill effects whatsoever. My better half walked in the door this evening and dropped her phone. She picked it up, put the batter in and the back on and booted it... the phone now is in a bootloop that states...

[910]-----------------------------------------------
[910]
[910] Secure booting Error!
[910] Error Code : 1003
[910] MODIFIED!!
[910]
[910]-----------------------------------------------

The phone was working just fine seconds before the drop. So now I am off to work on this badboy.... Wish me luck please =)

Take~Care!

Can someone help these two guys? This might be just what we all need!!

I sent my 6.0 system to @TMacgnolia a while back. I've asked about the same thing using TMobile's boot on Sprint variant, no word yet. Also I was reading on a G4 reddit and they say no root without unlocked bootloader because that's the only way supersu can modify kernel. Seems like everyone except TMoBile and their variants are S.O.L.

@BrickHouse ...You could always sideload the update.zip by using adb commands...Even so I doubt that it would successfully update since the script only works for a previous version. No harm in trying though. Try sideloading the update with command:

Code:
adb sideload update.zip

No more root attempts for me on this phone -LG LS770- for a while. After 5 replacements (2 root bricks and 2 root boot loops) I think I'm going too wait out the testing and stop spending time and money on replacements. I'll let the rest of you run the gambit of testing now. :(

Man..... I thought an actual permanent root was released......

I guess the best thing to do, is switch to Metro PCS, since my friend got one and they still have android lollipop on them, not to mention, a better camera, more ram and more rom.....

And you can update to Marshmallow manually and still root

Yep, permanent root access has been achieved for non Sprint phones. Those of us using the Sprint network are still waiting for someone to figure out how to get past the boot loader lock.
