BirdNET is pretty good and where is Bobby anyway? What's a good audio recorder for Bird calls.
I hear them but don't see them.
Nothing like 30" of wind driven snow and wind chills of 20 below to bring the avian friends to the bird feeders. I went through a whole feeder full and one full suet cake yesterday alone. As I look now, I have a bluebird on the suet. Aaaaaaand a bluejay just scare it off.Blue Jays and Cardinals tend not to get along too well, but this morning they seemed perfectly happy to share the feeder. Must have been the sub-zero wind chills. I picture two adversarial birds staring each other down and then shaking their heads and tweeting "Nah, it's too cold for that $h!t."
Although, it was a pair (male and female) of each so it's entirely possible the women wouldn't let them fight until they got the groceries home ... I can relate.![]()
Bluebirds came back, I forgot to post the pic. Not often I see them in the dead of winter, but I'm happy to keep them fed during the worst weather. As I look now, I have a bluebird on the suet.
Yeah, like I said, a guess. The bodies look thin and I see three different wing shape profiles. They seem too small for grackles and the wrong shape/size for starlings to me. Where is this? Can you provide more detail: color, size etc.?
Bird id drives me nuts!
It's a flock of... something! Seagulls?Yeah, like I said, a guess. The bodies look thin and I see three different wing shape profiles.![]()
I could see that. Another breed could be the American Goldfinch as they are only Bright Yellow in the spring and summer. In the winter they are brown like the females and youth.
