My battery ran dry last night and putting it on charge this morning does nothing. Device wont turn on, doesnt have the charging icon on the display, anything I can do before calling into store?

I've tried my SIM in other handsets and it works so there's something wrong with the phone. I've tried factory resets and putting a piece of paper in with the SIM in case there was a gap between the contacts but no luck. It's out of warranty so I'm stuck with it, anyone else had similar problems?
