    Possible to update without pc companion?

    So, my 2.4ghz and 1gb of ram elderly pc is a tad underpowered for the Sony PC Companion minimum specs at 3.6ghz and 2gb of ram. It gets the preparing the phone for upgrade bit then pc companion freezes and locks up the comp. Tried doing it through the phone and it tells me to do it via the PC...
