Thanks for the quick response, I had assumed that the phone had no data connection as the device manager wasn't connecting to it. I will keep hoping that the app I have tried to remotely install eventually gets through but otherwise in that case it sounds like a walk and ring is the only way.

Hey, I have recently lost my phone while walking, sadly I have only just bought it and haven't got around to installing any location apps yet. I can call and text the phone and so I know it has signal and battery. Sadly it seems not to have enough signal to receive data as Google Device...
