Basically...
1: download the driver package using the Android SDK manager. Again.
2: open the file android_winusb.inf in the package (not from the forum post!)
3: Replace the line "" with (from the post):

;%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB Install, USB\VID_1004&PID_618E&REV_0100&MI_01
%SingleBootLoaderInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_18D1&PID_D00D

;%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB Install, USB\VID_1004&PID_618E&REV_0100&MI_01
%SingleBootLoaderInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_18D1&PID_D00D

Save and exit.
4: Use the file as per the guide, now with 99% fewer file errors.
