    Help Do I need to root first before trying new ROM or OS?

    Greetings from a newbie, I got a Samsung Continuum (still with stock DL17) and I am interested in upgrading it to Froyo. I have never done anything like this before and so as absolute first step I am wondering: Must I root the phone before proceeding to run odin?
