what windows are you running? if your running windows xp than you have to open device manager and delete adb/android 1.0 and disconnect and reconnect the usb cable and proceed with the driver installation for the fastboot drivers, if you are using windows 7 then the drivers should install automatic, just disconnect and reconnect the phone while it is in fastboot mode.
