    Help wifi hotspot

    i keep reading that rooting my htc desire allows me to save $ when using it as a hotspot for my tablet to browse. But the un-rooted phone already has a setting to use it as a hotspot (telus 3g network). Why is it cheaper? Is special phone app needed?

    My Desire allows me to use it as a wifi hotsot for my laptop/tablet. What is the advantage of rooting it and then using it as a hotspot, and if advantageous, what are the steps?
