install this following the directions in the thread on your stock merit

download the ext3 update and rename it to "update.zip" and put on the root of your sdcard

do not modify it or anything else. install it by choosing the wipe data : factory reset option in the stock recovery

then you need to restore this nandroid

merit.rooted.deodexed.rar

unrar and put into a folder structure like this on your phone's sdcard

folder named "clockworkmod"/folder named "backup"/folder named "merit.rooted.deodexed"/

restore using the recovery from the thread above
