    Help galaxy roaming

    me and my family went north to massachusetts and i was using my tmobile galaxy s3 lte for directions is it normal for roaming to be activated although i turned it off and wasnt able to use it the entire trip if i go to georgia will the same thing happen btw it was from NY to MA thanks...
