    Activating mytouch via pay per use data?

    I want to buy a mytouch off ebay, but I don't want to get a data plan (have pay as you go prepaid) and I have access to wifi almost all the time. but you need a data plan to activate the phone, so I was wondering if you could activate it via pay per use 1.99 mb data plan on my friends sim card...
