I really don't get the uproar about the black bar at the bottom, I barely notice it. But then I prefer a black watch face.

I can't see this being even close to as fast as dictation. And if you're in a quiet environment where you can't dictate, pull out your phone to respond. Android Wear is not meant to have a keyboard, it's not a phone, it's a watch.
