    Root Root question: Why?

    I'm a new Evo user, matter of fact this is my first android phone. I've used blackberrys previously for the last several years. My question is, What are the benefits from rooting? Excuse my ignorance, but is it somewhat similar to jailbraking an iphone or what? :confused:
