why does it take ages for my email to come through to my samsung galaxy s2, when it didnt when i first had it. also sometimes it doesnt tell me it has received a new email even though it is on the phone. thanks for any help

my samsung galaxy s2 stopped receiving any email from my hotmail/windows live account today, absolutely nothing shows up in inbox outbox or anything. I have closed the account and tried to re open it, but all i am getting is timed out messages. any help would be greatly appreciated
