I am getting ready to upgrade to an S3. I plan to order online as it seems to be the cheapest option. Is there any reason I can't root and debloat the phone before having it activated?

Maybe I am missing something basic, but how do I backup all my contacts to google? Im rooted on M080 but I don't think that makes any difference. Edit: I see most of my contacts on google, but I think ones I have added since getting the commando are not backed up.

First off I should say that I am rooted on M080 I can't Seem to keep voice to text working more than a few days. Once the mic stops responding I can uninstall and reinstall voice to get it working. Then a few days later it will stop and I have to repeat the process to get it working again...
