Trying to make sense of all of these. It appears to me that they all seem to do the main purporse of flashing a ROM, but what really is the difference?

I looked through the search options on here but cant find it. I want to change the way things are downloaded on my phone. I want anything I download to go to ny external SD card....but cannot figure out how to change the default for this.....anyone?

I have flashed about 3-4 roms (newbie I know) but have 2 questions. 1. Is there a set order I should wipe/clean the cache/memory? 2. I am using TWRP and I like it, but anytime I flash the apps reinstall CWM (ROM Manager I think) so should I just delete the CWM?
