Anyways, I don't use any tethering apps (I don't tether tbh) so I cannot comment on one vs. another.

Although I am not familiar with your device, I can try to answer it this way. Are you subscribed to the hotspot service thru your provider?
Otherwise, another good idea would be to post a thread here in your device's root forum, where others with your device will better know the answer
