how can i open a mac .dmg disk image on android?

I have Mac .dmg archives that I would like to open on my Galaxy S4. They contain photos and basic docs but are encrypted. Is there an app or some other way to open them on my android phone?

I don't think so. A .dmg file is a compressed disk image most likely using an Apple file system. Plus you say it's encrypted so to see the contents you must first decompress the image archive, then mount it as a volume and finally decrypt the contents. Assuming for a minute that you have the decryption key, Android wouldn't be able to mount the file system.
 
There is at least one app that can open and show the files contained in most archives including .dmg; viewing the contents will of course depend on what they are.
 
Thanks for responses and sorry for the silence, I don't seem to get notifications from the forum.
The dmg image in question is my own (created as a secure depository for personal files) and so I do have the key and it resides in a private cloud folder. I usually access and update it from my Mac but would occasionally like to access it when the computer is not available, eg I'm away or in another room etc. It would be great to be able to read it from my phone, hence the query.
To be honest, I'd be amazed if it were possible but I'd be stupid not to ask.

I used the app, ZArchiver, but it doesn't work with encrypted files (it says the file is currupted). Are there any ways that work with encrypted filer?
 
In order to decompress an encrypted file you'd need the encryption key and the method of encryption.

I'm thinking if it's your own stuff that's archived and encrypted, why use something like Mac DMG, which is completely proprietary and rather Apple only. ZIP is basically the standard, even Macs have that as well of course. DMG on Mac OS X is normally used for software downloads and installations, not archiving AFAIK.
