I don't think that that would be possible unless playlists were saved as their own file type, like in iTunes or whatever on MacOS.

It is possible. YouTube red has a feature to do it, but I'm talking about doing it without YouTube red, there is a way to download videos and audio that I use, but it can't download entire playlists...
No youtube downloaded discussion as it is against their TOS in defense of copyright. If the creator of the video allows it to be downloaded then the functionality exists in youtube.
