Apps "The App has Stopped"

On some android phones (not all of them) when you click to open my app, it is saying "Unfortunately the app has stopped". What could be the cause that some phones are opening ok while others are failing? This is happening on different brands and sometimes on the same brand some model are opening but not others. Please help my programmer

Is your minSdkVersion set too high which would prevent your app from opening on lower sdk versions?
