Help Finding deleted files after rooting?

jimmy ju

Newbie
Hi there.
I have lost files of my Oneplus 5 with Android 8.

Does it make sense to root my phone now and then run a recovery tool? Or will there be no chance of finding anything as the phone will be wiped during the root process.

Thanks a lot
jim

There will be no chance at all if the phone is reset during rooting. This is because the storage is encrypted, and the encryption key won't survive a reset. Hence the data will look like garbage to any recovery tool.

Have described in a previous thread already. Basically after coming photos over with windows - I deleted 'somehow' all media containing folders in the internal storage. and thats including hidden ones like .ota or .mcs

It might be better to add this thread's question to the other thread. That would give everyone a clear picture of what you're dealing with, and make it easier to respond with something helpful.

Just a thought. :)

Thanks you.
Just as nobody even mentioned recovery there I thought it might be confusing.
Anyway have posted an update on the other thread now.
Guess this one can be closed.
