Yeah, you just need to be patient. Manually prompting an OTA version upgrade won't accomplish anything accept you getting more frustrated about why it doesn't appear to do work. If the Android Gods deem your model is to get upgraded, it's a matter of whenever Verizon opts to release it to you.
Unfortunately the update/upgrade situation with Android is pretty messed up. The carriers and manufacturers insisted on taking over the release of updates and upgrades, mostly because they wanted control over branding their own products. So while Google just continues to release monthly security patches and annual version upgrades, it's the carriers and manufacturers who decide on which models may or may not get them. That situation is changing though and Google is taking steps to take back that responsibility so in the future this won't be such a mess. This doesn't help any of us that have older devices of course, but at least there's hope.
