Ads not showing

I just changed my ad unit key from the test key to my real one. On the emulator I get a log message "request sent from test device" and then "App not loaded". That's not surprising on an emulator.

But when I generate an APK and install that on my phone, I get a blank space, no ads loading.

How do I test that REAL ads are working correctly?

Just found this:

I think that one of the issues is that they will simply not send you any ads (and throw the no fill error message) until your game has enough downloads and their "AI" can learn about your game to send the proper ads.

I found some debugging steps that I followed that also led me to a similar conclusion. Looks like I need to wait for my app to be approved before seeing anything.

And now that the app is published, ads are STILL not showing :(
I think something may be missing in your code or manifest. Ads should be already showing. Ads always show for me right away.

In the tutorial I linked you to did you click the button at the bottom of the tut that takes you to the source code on github? Examining the code may point you in the right direction.

edit:
If you're using banners, make sure to use the smart banner as in the tutorial. Those have a high fill rate. Also make sure you have implemented the app-ads.txt or you will barely get ads served.

Turns out it wasn't a technical issue. While rechecking my ids aand settings i saw a notice that my payment account wasn't set up.

Pretty sure I remember doing that, but whatever. I set that up and now I have ads.
