Photo editing retaining file name in original location

I currently download my photos to my Windows 10 Pro laptop from my camera's SD card and then edit them using the installed editing software. This results in the edited image retaining the original file name and file location - start with 1 file end with 1 file.
I am looking for an android photo editing app that will allow me to edit my photos on my tablet and keep the original file name in the original file location - start with 1 file end with 1 file.
Can anyone please offer any advice as to a suitable app?

I don't use it, but I don't see a way for Snapseed to do what the OP wants, i.e., edit the image and then save it as the original file:

Every choice [that I can find] creates a copy. How do you save it with the original name, i.e., overwriting the original file?

I think it automatically saves your copy, and resaves it as an edit.

Which is the opposite of what the OP wants: one file in, same file out.

I do this all the time with the GIMP on Linux. It seems like such a trivial task...

I need an app that will allow me to go through my photos in a the day folder, delete, crop, fiddle, and save with the original file name in the same folder and not place the photos in another folder with a different name to the original.

As noted, I use the GIMP on all my computers, and have for many years. However, I'd never even bothered trying its Android version, because I prefer doing serious image editing on a nice 17.3" screen.

But I just installed it to see if it can do what its Linux version does--and it can, exactly. So it definitely will do what you're after; I tested it to make sure.

That's the good news.

The bad news is that its interface is not very intuitive at all, and if you're attempting to use the limited tools you initially see, you'll be disappointed. You have to invoke its full PC version in order to see/use all of its features, like what you want. You do that by pressing the GIMP's mascot icon. But beware!

You'll unknowingly end up working on 'their' servers (I'm not sure whose)--which includes uploading your files. You can delete them, but I personally don't like this at all.

So the bottom line is that Android's version of the GIMP can do exactly what you want, i.e., edit and then save the same image with its original name and location, but its process is convoluted and feels somewhat invasive--to me. YMMV.

Thanks MoodyBlues, I will be travelling overseas and will have limited ablity/data to be uploading and downloading unfortunately. Looks like I have to take the laptop.
