How to Trigger Android Backup From Google Login

I am no longer able to view the screen on my phone since it was damaged and smashed. The phone however stays powered on. I would like to trigger from my computer/google chrome to start a backup on my phone so I have everything current before parting with my phone.

This is mainly because I have some important voicemails left on the phone that I would like to save and open. I will also be switching carriers soon, so I'm not sure if the voice mails are cached on the phone (probably not) or on Verizon's servers with voicemails.

A.) How can I trigger a backup manually from the computer?
B.) Once I have the backup file, can I browse it or access my voice mails?

Kind Regards

I don't know Verizon, but globally most carriers cache the voicemail on their systems rather than on the phone (there may be apps that download them, but I've never stumbled across one). There's probably a way of getting them by calling their voicemail number from another phone, with some appropriate authentication (like a PIN). You could speak to Verizon about this.

As for "trigger a full backup" can you explain what you mean? There's no single "back up everything" button anywhere in Android. There's an option to enable backup of app data to Google's servers, there are apps that can back up specific data (messages, photos, etc) but I don't know whether you can enable the first one remotely and for the others if you haven't installed the apps or enabled the sync/scheduled backups you can't do it remotely (you can install an app from the Play Store website, but you can't run it or configure it).

So the question is what have you already got set up?

The second is can you unlock the phone (e.g. using a fingerprint)? It's hard to get anything off otherwise.

The third is do you have some way of mirroring the display? You can drive a phone with a keyboard or mouse, but only if you can see.

(If you have usb debugging enabled there are more options, but I suspect you haven't. And you still need to unlock the phone, for obvious security reasons).

This may not be relevant at all for the OP's issue, but doing as above is definitely possible. When I switched to Consumer Cellular, with a pay-per-call plan, they kindly told me how to check voicemail without incurring any call charges. I call my cell phone from another phone. When the VM greeting plays, I press * and get prompted for my password. From that point on it's business as usual. :)

Welcome to Android Forums, SmartPhone329!

Did you have any 'auto-backup' or 'auto-sync' things set up on the phone? Some examples: Dropbox, Amazon Photos, Google Photos, Google Backup, WhatsApp backup, etc. If so, you're at least safe as far as those go.
