"Improve Location Accuracy" pop-up

How do i prevent this from popping up? This is a constant occurrence, and no matter which reply i choose, it turns my location on.

The op referred to the pop up of "high accuracy location"..not to the location on and off in general..I was hoping to find a straight answer to that too..since it if wasn't for Tasker I would've have same issue to..and even though some times I get that annoying pop up too..it's annoying and very stubborn..
I think the point of the op he is trying to avoid the high accuracy..not the location service..since the accuracy consumes LIKE A LOT of energy on the phone..
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I only ever see that pop-up in Maps, which every now and then tries to persuade me to switch to "high accuracy" so that Google can continuously collect my location data (as they do if you enable either "high accuracy" or "low power" - though "low power", i.e. wireless only, no longer exists in Android 9).

If it came up every time I'd probably either abandon Maps or root and see whether I could find a way of getting rid of it.

Sorry to tell you but the collection of data from Google isn't just in "high accuracy"..it also collects everything on "gps only" as well..well, at least mine..and that's how my phone through Tasker keeps its location in "gps only" when I use it..
So still the same question remains, the annoying "high accuracy" why does always try to stay on if it is not necessary since the other two options do the same??

I know about some of the other tricks Google use to collect location: I've been deep through Google settings to turn them off. But they have always collected more when wireless location is on (not that I'd put it past them changing policies without making it public, this is Google after all, but they've always used the wireless for this because if you are going to poll regularity it uses less power).

The two modes don't do the same: "high accuracy" uses mobile and wifi signals in addition to GPS. It offers advantages if you want to be located inside buildings where there's no GPS signal, but where you have a view of the sky it does not improve accuracy (wireless location is an order of magnitude less accurate, so the combination is utterly dominated by GPS).
