Escaping setup wizard

I finally have a "new" S5 thanks to a great person on here. It's in terrific shape, with charge cord and case. I was trying to set it up but it got stuck at email. I typed in my email address and password, only to get the message I hope to show with a photo. How do I get out of there?

What version Android is it running? If it's the original 4.4.2 the S5 first came with, that's no longer supported by Google and Samsung, and could be why the setup wizard won't complete.

This happens sometimes just restart the phone and it should fix itself out
 
I think I finally got it. Now I just have to figure out how to stop automatic updates, especially from google. How do I do thar?
