Help Always On Display won't stay on

I can't keep my Always on Display on - I go into settings, turn it on, it immediately turns itself off - I don't know what I've done to do this (I'm sure I did it). What do I have on that's turning it off? Some kind of power saving mode? I have it on Optimized, and Adaptive.

What have you done to your phone? Have you been messing with system apps or something? Have you tried a simply restart of your phone?

I figured it out. I had installed AODNotify, and that was messing with the AOD function. I've uninstalled it. All back to normal. As for system files, I don't mess with them anymore - there's really no need. Thank you though!
