Android Auto Phone Log

Does anyone know the logic of populating the Android Auto Phone log and how to manage it.

I am using a Note 5, with Android Auto running on the phone (with no car connection), latest version from the appstore.

When I switch to phone mode in Android Auto.....the interface displays some contacts (I guess they are from the recent call list) but I find the logic problematic. There a names displayed that I may have called once - months ago and it seems to display the names alphabetically.....

So if i call - once - a contact with a last name staring with A...then they end up on the top of my call log...and they don't go away..the same person pops up on the phone screen. With such limited real estate on the Auto App, I need a way to tune up what is displayed in the AA Phone App.

I have tried using the regular call application and deleted all the relevant entry from the call log and the name does not go away. I also tried deleting the (Application|Storage) data to re-init android Auto and when I finish the startup wizard.....the phone app still pulls in the same history list....

Any suggestions?

Hey there, the list of contacts first shown using Android Auto are usually "Starred" in your google contact list.
They are "Starred" because Google sets them as people you contact frequently.
Just access your contacts and "Un-Star" them from "frequently contacted"
