Is there any chance you're still under warranty? I had screen burn-in on my Motorola phone, but it was still under warranty so they shipped me a new one.Showing a permanent impression of ludo king...after factory reset also...
Ha ha! You know, not necessarily. My burn-in was of my keyboard--but not only do I never leave it sitting like that for long periods, the screen isn't on when I'm idle. It really made no sense. You must have been playing Ludo King a lot.
Not exactly. I actually had to refresh my memory to be sure; here's what I said at the time: "My Moto Z² Force Edition, which I love, is only ≈6 months old, but for months I've noticed screen burn-in. I kept trying to ignore it, then today decided to call Motorola while its warranty is still good." I'm glad I didn't fart around until its warranty expired! But wasn't yours something that came on quickly?
Some people do buy extended warranties, though. That seems to happen with a small fraction of AMOLED panels, but as the S8 is a 2017 handset it's unlikely (though not impossible) that this is a new phone.
Or getting a new phone!Either way, as Mike says this is a hardware issue. LEDs that have been used more heavily have lost their brightness, resulting in a negative image (most visible against a uniform background). There is no fix other than replacing the panel.
You know, after rereading my own comment--"is only ≈6 months old, but for months I've noticed screen burn-in"--I've reconsidered my response. Yes, it -did- come on quickly.I guess I may have classified 6 months as rapid
I actually wrote about that phone being a lemon (in the Z² board). It's the first and only phone that's ever given me problems. I consider it a fluke, and it hasn't changed my loyalty to Motorola. Really, it strengthened it--because of how they handled the situation.I'm currently running a 2 year old AMOLED with no issues.
