I set up my phone to unlock with a code number, How do I set it to unlock without one? Running Android version 5.1.

Follow this path:

System Settings | Security | Screen Lock [enter your PIN when prompted] | Choose screen lock

Then choose Pattern or Password, and follow its prompts.

Unfortunately, this menu pattern is different on my phone, an unlocked LG G4 with Android 5.1, build LMY47D, Software version US9111A.

I did find it, though, under Security/Content lock/Set lock. But the menu defines content lock as "lock files for Gallery and memos for QuickMemo+"--is that the same thing?

No. You definitely need 'screen lock.'
