Help Had Google Acct, New Gmail Acct, now ALL Contacts & Calendar GONE

AMauler

Newbie
For years I had a Google Acct through my Yahoo email, which I had for decades. Everything has been mostly fine, getting new smart phones, syncing through Google via my Yahoo email address. Today I needed another email account for another matter, so I set up a Gmail account. Thought all was well until all my Contacts & Calendar entries are now GONE. I tried going into Chrome to log out of Google, then log into Google with my Yahoo Acct, but it resorts to the Gmail account. Please help.

In Android Settings / Accounts, I only see one Google account, the Gmail one I made today. The Yahoo accts still appears for Email, Yahoo, and Personal (IMAP).

Something funny happened with the calendar tho. I mostly use Business Calendar app, and there appeared to be no way that it could sync with the Yahoo email Google account, I couldnt find any thing turned off that I could turn on. So then I went to the basic Google calendar app. At first that showed nothing, then a few items showed up, then more & more came up. It looked like the calendar was fully populated, and then I went back to Business Calendar and that also seemed to be fully populated.

So similarly I went to the basic Google contacts app. However that just says "Preparing to sync. This may take awhile. No contacts yet." It stays like this unfortunately.

OK so you're apparently blaming Google for your problems but given Yahoo Mail's documented track record over the years for multiple security breaches (and lying about them), changing user and background interfaces with little or no advance warnings, and tumultuous CEO/management changes you might want to log into your Yahoo account and double-check the Settings for any haphazard changes that might be affecting how Yahoo services sync up with your Google apps.

Wow, anything else?

I dont think you understand. This has nothing to do with my Yahoo account. I had my Yahoo ADDRESS as my Google ID to log into Google, for years. Earlier today I set up a Gmail account, and ever since, my apps for Google Contacts & Calendar have been messed up. However, in Chrome, both Calendar.google.com & Contacts.google.com look just fine & fully complete. Please help.

Danny I didnt have an old Gmail account. I had an old GOOGLE account that I used my Yahoo ID to log into the Google account. I set up my first Gmail account this morning. When I logout of Gmail/Google and just login to the old Google account using my Yahoo ID which Ive been doing ok for years, Google automatically resorts itself to the new Gmail account.

But in Chrome, all old & current entries within Calendar.google.com & Contacts.google.com appear just fine. But in the apps Google Contacts & other calendar apps, nothing shows.

Somebody please help.

They were most likely linked to your old Gmail account and not the new Gmail account

I think because it was such an old Google account, that they merged into Gmail only... Not sure what recourse you have here...
Sorry, your yahoo account has absolutely nothing to do with your Gmail account, even if you say it was your Google ID, by today's standards, it's not Google, period, just Gmail that is your default Google id/account /email....

I deleted the Gmail acct (not my Google acct) I just created. It is no more. I logged into Google again with my Yahoo address and ONLINE though CHROME and in the settings, all appears like it used to. In Chrome under Google Calendar & Contacts all appears the same as it did before this problem. ALL of my Calendar apps appear ok, HOWEVER all of my Contacts apps, including Google Contacts, show nothing. This terribly affects my texting, calling, and voicemail app. Looks like I am almost there but the worst part of the problem continues. Please help.

Have you used Google's account switcher to switch to your old account? It's on the top right corner on desktop browsers. There was no need to delete your new account lol

Again I never made a new Google account, just a new Gmail account. I had a google account for many years, but made my first Gmail address earlier this week, and then deleted it. I deleted my Gmail account in Chrome. I never touched the Gmail app recently. The few times I used the Gmail app previously it seemed to interface with my Yahoo email.

This morning I had the same problem... BUT just about an hour ago, all 995 of my contacts came back again. I have no idea how they came back, but all 995 went on a 4 day vacation from my phone, and I have no idea what happened.

I had that same issue about three months ago..my contacts which I've saved for years and years in my Google where gone..I was deleting some duplicates..that's how it happened..the only reason I was able to get most of them back was because some how and I have not idea when but magically my contacts also existed in my Samsung account that I don't remember setting one up..but well..bottom line..it's good to have back ups...
