When i look at the Recents list in the Phone app I can see that some are marked as spam and/or blocked but a number of them are not. How can I mark a call as spam or blocked in my Recents list ? If I choose a recent call the only choices that I see, beside the phone icon for calling back, are "Add contact:, "Message", and "History". Surely I should be allowed to mark a recent call as spam or as a number which should be blocked.

Unless you save each number as a contact, then block them in your contacts settings, your call log means nothing. Try installing a call blocking app, such as Youmail, from the play store, that will block these spam callers. And yes, it's Youmail, it is spelled correctly

For my phone, when I choose a recent call, the bottom buttons in the window are "Create new contact", "Save to existing contact" and "More...".
Tap the "More...", there will be a "Mark as..." menu item in the pop up menu.
There you can mark the recent call as spam or as a number which should be blocked.
